Low battery

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a Mondeo 1.6tdci 2013 and the words low battery is coming up on the information panel and stop star is not working, I took the car to halfords and they tested it and said battery is good, and is showing that because i only do short journey and i need to charge the battery and did so. To no avail. My battery is near the end of its warranty with them but i don't mind buying a new one i just need to know if it is necessary

Many thanks

Dave

I used a charger they recommended in halfords for a deep charge

That was not what I meant.

  • Did you connect the negative of the battery charger to the chassis earth point ?
  • Did you charge the battery for minimum of 12 hours while it was still connected to the car ?

Shocked that on taking it to Halfords, they recommended a charger they just happened to have in stock 🤣 Is a 'deep' charge like having a 'deep' massage?

Likewise, but I can understand that due it's size they don't normally keep the Maypole in stock 🤣

No problem, don't be a stranger, call again...

Stop Start batteries have to be tip top. To be honest I would go to Halfords, stop, then leave your headlights on for twenty minutes then ask them to check !

Your battery may be able to recover and if their equipment say it ok then you can be more confident.

Many folk replace the battery because their stop/start system fails, that is often a mistake. For start/stop to work, literally 100s of conditions have to be met otherwise the car just ignores stop/start. The following post is from @unofix who is an expert in such matters and I hope won't mind me posting a previous post of his...
