Reversing Camera

Featured Replies

We bought a used Focus st line from Trust FORD on a 22 plate. We have got the navigation screen etc as standard. I'm keen to purchase Software?? //a reversing camera ( to be added to the screen) to help when reversing. I was quoted £400 but I wasn't given adequate info. such as fitting charges etc.

Can anyone advise , please? I looked on the internet but failed to find the info. required.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this will work!. I've copied and pasted the original topic/ post.

I was advised to try one or two companies which I did. I was quoted £660 to up to £1,000 for the reversing cameras. I would rather not pay those sorts of prices.

I recall contacting used Trust Ford sales staff ( when buying the car) and asking if we could have the reversing camera function added. They said yes and that it would cost in the region of £400.

Today, I contacted Ford Service Parts &Accessories.; they advised there are no reverse camera options for our car. I am very puzzled.

Can anyone advise if they have had a reverse camera fitted, please? I don't wish to have a separate camera. By the way the car we bought has front and rear parking sensors.

Thanks in advance

Perhaps after @fiesta boy has studied the DIY install he may consider £660 a reasonable cost given how mush work is involved. When I installed mine I did it in two stages, first fitting the camera and wiring. The following day I took the dashboard apart and opened up the 54way connector to add the video connection. Very pleased with mine although the parking lines don't move because it's not a genuine Ford camera.

Many Thanks for your sound advice. I will have to think about it but would be keen to get some more quotes. You pay for what you really want, don't you?

By the way, I drive a Rover 75 and around 2 years ago or so, I bought a "small" reversing camera from Halfords and they fitted it too. It sits on the dashboard but can be fitted onto the windscreen. I don't have as posh a dash as the Focus'.I would rather not have it on the Focus as the dash is smaller than the 75.

Thanks again and it's back to the drawing board for me/us; I received a reply from the Ford online team and they explained that unless "it was fitted" at the time of build it would not be feasible to do it now.

Hi. I enquired about retro fitting a reverse camera. I wasxquoted £600. Why it costs is because the interface unit needed costs £350. However the picture does appear in the nav screen.  So £600 seems quite reasonable.
