Best OBD adapter for Forscan

Featured Replies

Could someone tell me the best (without spending a fortune ) OBD Adapter. I have done a search but couldn't find anything  recent.

Thanks

@unofix posts his Forscan adapter recommendation on here every other day.  I know the search function isn't great through.

The current 'best' adapters are the V-Linker ones.  It depends whether you want a wired adapter for a laptop or whether you want Bluetooth for an Android or Apple mobile device as to exactly which one you need.

Thanks TomsFocus,  I'm still getting used to using the forum search facility. The previous obd reader I had for my last car vw, didn't work with my fiesta with forscan.  It is a Bluetooth adaptor that I used with my android tablet. I was hoping to get something that I can use with my tablet as I don't have a Windows laptop.

In that case, the wireless V-Linker FD is the most suitable adapter for you.  Here is a link to Amazon, other sellers may be cheaper.

vLinker FD OBD2 Bluetooth Car Code Reader, OBD2 Diagnostic Scanner for Android & Windows - Made for FORScan : Amazon.co.uk: Automotive

Thanks again Tom, that great and a reasonable price, cheers. On another note I tried the search facility again to try to find @unofix posts regarding Obd readers and the only post that came up was my own haha, more practice needed.

FORScan, available for Windows Laptop (free) or for Android Phone or iPhone for £7

FORScan: https://forscan.org/download.html

vLinker FS cable for laptop: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-vLinker-Adapter-FORScan-MS-CAN/dp/B0952P4MLP

vLinker FD for Android Phone: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-Bluetooth-vLinker-Scanner-Diagnostic/dp/B08H82WC8L

vLinker FD+ for iPhone: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vgate-Bluetooth-vLinker-Scanner-Diagnostic/dp/B08H8JHWP2

Please note that the phone versions can not do any programming. They can read all the codes the same as the windows version, and can reset service indicators like oil, and clear DTC's

Can't upgrade mine. I assume it doesn't have the necessary hardware.

Ps. If you haven't already ordered, I note that the link unofix provided previously in this thread (from Amazon) has a special offer on Prime if you have that (or get Prime free for a month).

i am ashame to say i am skint at the moment 😞

my laptop doesnt have the necessary hardware either but i am going to bypass it so it will let me install it.

Nothing to be ashamed of but the Amazon price is the cheapest I've seen the vLinker FS.

FWIW I've just bought some items using PayPal and it let me choose to pay in three installments with no interest.

Will have to investigate how it's possible to bypass the statement saying I can't upgrade. Thanks

Sure I've seen a YouTube guide to installing Windows 11 on unsupported hardware....🤔

To be fair mate, I joined this forum in September 2011 and the so-called 'search' functionality is as crap now as it was back then!
