Oil Pressure light on startup

Featured Replies

Hello, I have a 2015 Fiesta zetec s (125ps) and recently when starting the car for the first time of the day the oil pressure light comes on for a few seconds and then turns off. I’m understandably worried as it never used to do this and is of course the dreaded 1.0L EcoBoost. The car has supposedly had a new belt October last year and has just had a full service last month. Read somewhere about the possibility of a failed anti drain to stop the oil from the filter draining back to the sump but I know nothing about these engines. Anyone had any similar issues or is this normal? Car has 81,000 miles.

When they did the cam belt, I hope they also did the oil pump belt and cleaned the internal oil screen (not just the pickup but the turbo feed screen)

Do you have the invoice for this 'supposed' work that was done ?

If it has been done then I would suspect that only half a job was done, as per the comments above by @Neb_engineer has already said.

Also just wondering why anyone would change the wetbelt in October 2022 on a car registered in 2015 and probably with less than 70,000 miles at the time ?

I have the invoice but seems very shady to be honest, the reason for the belt change is because I’m assuming it failed as the car failed it’s MOT due to an engine MIL a week before the belt change if the dates on the invoices are correct. All seems very odd to me and honestly had I seen the paperwork before buying the car I wouldn’t have bought it but seemed like a solid choice at the time. Has a full service history and as I say belt was done last year but the cars been non stop problems since I bought it.

Sorry for necroposting but long story short I part exchanged the car for a mk4 focus 2 weeks after making the original post lol, god help whoever bought the car after me and I wish them well but the entire car was a mess endless faults with the gearbox, mileage issues, electrical issues, exhaust issues, engine issues. Almost certain the engine would have been toast by now but looking at recent MOT history’s it’s suspiciously passed its most recent with 0 faults so who knows. My advice, don’t buy a 1.0 EcoBoost regardless of mileage or service history, they’re disposable engines with even more disposable chassis’s bolted to them. Absolutely love the focus though!

So you now have a Focus ST-Line, what engine have you got ?
