[Ford Fiesta mk7] Plastic wall under the bumper.

Featured Replies

Hello,
I've noticed that there's a plastic "wall" under the bumper, not the engine cover. It seems removable, but should I take it off?
Does it serve any purpose other than scratching when driving in the snow, hanging on the curb while parking, or hitting the road when going over speed bumps?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Things like that are usually there to reduce drag and improve fuel efficiency

Isn't flat surface facing the wind would not create more drag? I sent example from google what I mean.

It helps guide the air under the car and around the wheels. Less turbulence means less drag.

The weather isn’t the cars fault, neither is you driving over kerbs or speed bumps.

Yeah I was guilty of a speed hump the other day! Heck it did go with a bad scraping noise! Missus shouts.....''What the f*uck was that have you hit something'' 😆 When we pulled up she got on her knees to see what it was that made the noise 🧐

Hmm, I'm not going that fast. I'm moving slowly, but I still hear the scraping. In the winter, it feels like I'm using a snowplow.

Are there big/tall ramps you go over ? I've sometimes come across stupidly high ramps badly designed so the black bit has started to scrape as I go towards the ramp.
