Alarm always rings

Featured Replies

My car alarm always seems to set off randomly. I don't know what causes this but it's very annoying especially in the middle of the night. Please help.

Get set up with FORScan, it will not fix the problem but will tell you what set the Alarm off and allow a degree of diagnosis.

100% good advice. I use to look after multiple properties with intruder alarms, the 1st line of 'repair' was to look at the fault log to see what triggered it. ForScan will show that log allowing you to diagnose the cause of alarm sounding...

Mine was the electric boot contacts dirty. Spring pins and copper contacts. Alarm going off at random.

Also triggers if boot not shut properly but don't always flag on dash lights that it's open. Had several alarm triggers because of that

Thanks. How do I get the forscan software and is it free? Do I also need the connecting lead.

I'm sure @unofix will be along shortly to give full advice on installing ForScan...

EDIT

Found a bookmark of advice on ForScan, hope he doesn't mind me replicating it here...

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

When you do get Forscan you need to go into the BCM and bring up the PID that shows you what set the Alarm off the last 6 times.

You can also Live Monitor the Door,Boot,Bonnet openings to see if they are falsely being shown as open when they are closed.

Are we going to have a guess ? 🤔

My first guess is that it will be a faulty bonnet switch. 😀

Once I get the software and lead, I'll let you all know.

Is the software easy to use as I've never used diagnostic software before.

Here is a link to the official FORScan user guide. It looks complicated but makes sense when you have it connected to the car.
