So my mom’s car cluster started doing weird things (even shutting down the car), we got it repaired on an authorized ford tech but after a few months its doing weird things again, before it gets worse i want to replace it and upgrade it. Whats the new recommended cluster? I’ve been seeing a lot of models so I’m lost. I don’t care if a rewiring is needed, but i just care that everything is working (or at least the features that the car has with the original cluster).

You need to get it repaired properly, it sounds like the first repairer just reflowed the solder, instead of removing the solder and starting again.

A new cluster is expensive and a used one will probably be in the same condition. And you can't fit any other cluster to your car, it won't work

Send the cluster away to a reputable repairer who will repair it properly

Are Ford ICs that bad? I tought only this model had those issues thats why I wanted the upgrade. Also because i’ve seen lot of posts of people upgrading their clusters and just needing a firmware flash (or patch)

EDIT: I’ve been told it needs to have the same speed markings as the original (otherwhise it will be inaccurate) and I suppose the connector needs to be the same?
