What, of being lied to by government policy on so called 'green' issues, or manufactures overstating the economy of cars like promising non existent MPG figures, or as a country squandering £12  Billion on giving it away to OTHER countries to help their carbon emissions rather than supporting our own pensioners (abolishing the fuel allowance will save £1.5 Billion) ???

Sorry buddy, you caught me in a bad mood, hope you get sorted soon...

Only experienced MHEV Pumas through test drives (some 24 hour).

However my impression was that the charging situation was not dissimilar to what we find with 12v batteries - it's the type of driving, rather than the distance which charges the battery.

You need to be driving in circumstances which trigger regen, e.g. braking, overrun, downhill etc, rather than driving at steady speed on the flat. Also regen seems more active in Sport mode.

It's not a huge amount of difference anyway - iirc max torque on a non-MHEV 125 was 200 Nm (with over boost), a hybrid 125 is only 10 Nm more.

It's been a bit over-hyped by Ford imo. Many, if not most, manufacturers now use MHEV in some form and hardly mention it, but Ford have touted it as the best thing since sliced bread. It is, after all, principally an environmental thing to harvest energy which would otherwise be wasted and use it to slightly reduce consumption and emissions, while smoothing out turbo lag.

I know this is probably totally irrellevant but I always drive mine in ECO mode. (I know, I know)

My regen works find in any driving condition. I wonder if it senses the driving modes and adjusts to that mode.

Stupid idea but you can clutch a straw as all other ideas haven't come up with anything.
