Ford fiesta MK6 (2012) button/red led near gear lever

Featured Replies

Hi guys

I have a ford fiesta mk7 from 2012 (upgraded facelift model) with almost no options.

There is a button next to the gear lever that also is a led, and sometimes it flashes red. Also when u press it in it flashes red.

Anyone have any idea what this button is, i cannot find it anywhere on the internet.

It will be for an after market alarm or immobiliser, probably the original owner had it fitted. It's certainly not a factory fitted Ford item.

Yeah you probably right, it feels really ""fragile" to. Maybe that whas the reason why my car wouldnt start this morning that i accidently pressed it in. Atleast i know now it isnt something to worry about.

Thankyou sir!

A fragile immobiliser button sounds like something you should be worried about!  Alarms are just annoying but immobilisers prevent the engine starting, you really don't want to be stuck with a broken one in future.

As already mentioned, it's likely an aftermarket immobiliser indicator. Take it to a local independent auto electrician to have properly removed/bypassed...

Oh ok, why would anybody install this even? Is it to prevent theft?
