i had an mot yesterday on my x reg focus and it failed on the nearside front brake hose has insufficient room to move (support bracket come away from leg), they said that i need to get new shock absorbers for this, is this right? how does the brake hose have anything to do with the shock absorbers? any adivce would be greatly welcomed thanks

    On the shock absorber there is usually a little bracket (this stops the hose from shamffing against the strut) and the flexi brake hose is fixed into this by a clip or a rubber grommet,have a look at the other side and see where/how the brake pipe bracket is secured to the strut (shock absorber) and see if you can adapt something along the same line on the side he's failed it on, to say you need a new shocker is plain right daft and sounds like he's trying to rip you off.
