MK8 Fiesta A/C Noise

Featured Replies

Hi all,

For a while now, the air conditioner seems to make a metallic, whistling noise that is quite hard to explain when activated. It seems to work fine, as it still goes cold and effectively clears the window. Anyone else encountered this?

Video (Sound UP!)  :

Can't really hear anything on the video, even with sound up.

I would recommend having the gas level checked in case it's getting a bit low, and only just enough to still work effectively.  If there's plenty of gas or no change after a regas then it may be the compressor bearings starting to fail with noise being transmitted along the pipes.

Got it booked in with a specialist on Thursday, he's already had a look at it once and is determined to find it this time after I managed to record that audio.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem though as it does drive me mad sometimes.

The condenser has a very small leak, basically due to Ford's bad design.  There's a piece of sponge next to the condenser and the sponge has gotten wet and caused it to corrode and form a small hole and also has significantly damaged one of the pipes. Expensive fix and extremely annoying.

So i've had the condensor replaced yet the problem still occurs.

This is a video from today -  Any ideas would be appreciated 🙂

Did you ever get to the bottom of this. I now have a similar issue

Sounds a bit like mine in this thread got a company coming in July I heard a pop before mine started

Will report back when it’s been checked over etc

Mine sounds similar i think. Turn the air-conditioning off and afterva few seconds its silent.

Sounds like it's a fairly common issue, but without a solution here
