Turbo Actuator Or Clutch?

Featured Replies

Hi hope someone can give me some advice. I purchased a car last March (2018 ford fiesta 1l eco boost, 52,000 miles) and have had nothing but problems with this car since. Biggest problem was 4 months in I needed a new gearbox after they found mass metal shaving in the oil, covered under warranty so luckily didn’t have to pay. Heads up, I know nothing about cars…

There’s a new sound that has arisen over the last 3 months ish. When you first start the car there is a rattling noise that can be heard near the engine, when you put your foot down on the clutch the sound disappears, same as when it’s in gear. Only when idle does it make the sound, when I’ve been driving round for quite a while and the engine has really warmed up it doesn’t do it as much. Took it to dealership and they said it’s the turbo actuator but a few people have said it could possibly be clutch/flywheel.

Looking for opinions on whether I need to get a second opinion or if the dealership could be right about it being the actuator.

Thank you in advance!

Is anyone able to offer any advice

With a car of that age, my advice is stay away from dealers, and find a good local independent garage who you can trust!

Ask friends and neighbours for recommendations, Google "Good Garage Guide" and you will get several schemes that recommend garages.
