Clutch or gearbox issue

Featured Replies

Some advice please. I have a Fiesta 1.0 ecoboost titanium 2015. On 2 occasions I have been driving and the changing of gear becomes difficult and then impossible. The last time I tried a number of things to see what the issue was. So when I turned off the engine I could change gears freely. Then I started engine and then could not change gears. So I tried starting the car in gear and it would just lurch forward similar to a stall. Then all of a sudden the fault would clear and the car would drive normally. My car is booked in for some advisory MOT work in the beginning of March and when I booked the car in I told the mechanic of this issue after the first occasion (2nd occasion hadn’t happened at this time) and he said he’d look at gearbox. My suspicion is it might be more clutch than gearbox but my car knowledge is limited so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I would agree. Sounds like the clutch is not fully disengaging for some reason. Could be a fault with the Master cylinder.
