Fiesta Titanium 2013 – Horn Only Works for Half a Second

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I’ve got a weird issue with my 2013 Ford Fiesta Titanium (UK model). When I press the horn, it only beeps for less than half a second, then stops. After that, it won’t work again unless I turn the engine off, take the key out, and restart the car. Once I do that, I can get one beep like last time, then it stops working again.

I’ve checked the fuse, and it looks fine. I haven’t swapped it out, but other things tied to the same fuse are working, so I don’t think that’s the issue. The relay is clicking when I press the horn, so that seems to be working too.

I’m a new car owner, so I’m not exactly clued up on car electrics, and I don’t have many tools. If I need to swap the horn out or check the wiring, what tools would I need? Is it a job I could do myself, or would I be better off taking it to a garage?

Would appreciate any advice from people who have tackled this before.

Cheers.

Had the same fault on my wife's car....turned out to be the horn itself

Once exchanged it worked fine..loads of corrosion from years of water ingress

Cheap to buy on ebay

That’s interesting, sounds like it could be the same issue. Was it fairly easy to replace? I’m not too experienced with car repairs, so I’m wondering if it’s something I could do myself.

Do you have any guides or step-by-step instructions you’d recommend for my model? Would appreciate any pointers on what tools I might need as well.

Cheers!

May be of help...

Replaced the horn but had to reuse the old bracket since the bolt was completely seized. Swapped the horn out, cleaned the contacts on both the new horn and the plug, and it worked perfectly.

I just removed the front left headlight, only a couple of screws and a plug, really simple. Picked up a second-hand horn on eBay for £15 all in. Only needed a screwdriver, 10mm and 12mm wrenches, and some contact cleaner. Easy job.

That's why the horn goes faulty, it's very exposed right at the front.

Glad it worked OK..

Sorry I never came back on the location as was working..
