ABS issue

Featured Replies

I have recently come across an issue with my Fiesta ST180 2014 model, I have had the ABS and traction control light come on at speeds over 15mph. On reading the codes it’s telling me it’s a right reed wheel speed error, I’ve went on live data on my diagnostic machine and the right rear is recording a wheel speed so I know the sensor is working. Is it likely to be a faulty ABS magnetic ring on the bearing ? Anyone else had this issue ?

If you are using FORScan to read the DTC and it says it's the rear right ABS wheel sensor that is at fault, then it will be.

If you are using a generic code reader then I'd not be able to say one way or the other.

I’m using my Foxwell NT680 pro code reader which brought up two faults relating to the OSR wheel sensor, upon replacing it the lights still appear

You need to check the wiring from the sensor. It can get damaged and corrode causing data corruption. Is the replacement ABS sensor a genuine Ford part or and after market part?  We have often seen that after market parts cause issues.

PS.

I also have the Foxwell NT680. It does a reasonably good job, but not as useful as FORScan on Ford cars.

Update I’ve re checked on live data and once I reach a certain speed the wheel sensor stays at reading 160mph what could be causing that ?

You have a faulty ABS sensor.

Replace with a genuine Ford sensor of the correct type (they are not all the same).

I’ll give that a shot, could it possibly be a broken wire as it’s picking up the correct speed until I get to around 15mph and that’s when it jumps up to the wrong speed
