Yellow spanner diaplay.

Featured Replies

Boys Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost on a `19 plate , with adaptive cruise control.

Yellow spanner light being displayed intermittently , no other lights , no limp mode , no other symptoms - it clears on restart and returns (or not) at will. Occasionally it mentions that pre-safe collision is not available and the stop / start doesn`t go green but that may be due to lack of use and short journeys.

The only ICarsoft code displayed is - A/B brake switch correlation ?

Dont want to play parts roulette so has anyone else had a similar issue and managed to get to the source of the fault.

I believe there are two switches mounted on top of the brake pedal , is one for the brake lights and one to disengage the "cruise" ?

TIA - Kenny

Found this on the net

"Our" normal advice, I think, would be Forscan to get all Ford specific codes to confirm any guess found on the Internet but I'll leave others to confirm that...

If checking the fluid level is easy then that and all other levels would be an easy first step?

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

Should have said , the car is a six speed manual.

I read that it may also be related to a transmission fault but as the manual has no monitoring of the g/box it cant be that , i also read that it relates to an overdue service but that wouldn`t reset itself by cycling the ignition , i also read that it could relate to the colour of the drivers socks , on that particular day.

The most accurate thing is the colour of the drivers socks 🤣

Seriously it has nothing to do with the car wanting a service or any other type of routine work. Ford use a lot of Ford specific DTC's that generic code readers like ICarsoft are just not able to read. There are several hundred fault codes that turn the 'Spanner' light on and with out the exact Ford DTC it would be meaningless to guess.

Just told the wife (AKA Google) as she knows everything , apart from what turns on the yellow spanner light in a `19 Fiesta.

As a use a Chrome Book in the house the Forscan for Windows is not downloadable , i will need to get the boys pukka laptop to use it.

Alternatively you could use one of the two phone versions.

Laptop "acquired" and comms cable ordered from Amazon.

Should be able to diagnose the Fiesta "spanner" light on Wednesday.

Used Forscan to diagnose the source of the Yellow Spanner light - it came up with the same codes even after deleting them a few times :

P0504:00-2F

U0402:00-2B

U0401:86-2E

Going by the time stamp of the codes the P0 code was the first to register , the other two were a few seconds later.

The P0504:00-2F was a fault with - Brake Switch A/B Correlation.

New OEM switch purchased for the miserly sum of £12 and fitted , short test drive and no further issues and S/S working along with the Adaptive Cruise 😀

Fault diagnosed and repaired for £34 all in , which included the comms cable + switch - just wish the Cayenne was a cheap to fault-find and repair.
