Fiesta ST-Line X (2020) Gearbox oil leak

Featured Replies

Hello,

I noticed some gearbox oil leaking down the front of my gearbox while doing an oil change at the weekend.

Upon further investigation, it seems to be leaking from the shaft circled in red. Is this the gear selector shaft? I can’t see it fully unless I remove the battery and tray.

Is there anywhere I could find a parts illustration? Has anyone changed this seal before?

Thanks.

Thank you.

Have you replaced one before? I’m not sure how big of a job it is.

Do you have a link to the site where you get the parts information from?

Thanks.

I haven't replaced one myself.  It looks fairly simple.  Just battery box out, gear cables off, 'C' clip off of the selector arm and then you'll be able to reach the seal.  But that is just my best guess based on the pictures above.

Thanks.

Is there a procedure for disconnecting and then reconnecting the battery?

Thanks.

There's no special procedure for the battery.  Just the same as others, best practice is to disconnect the negative cable first and reconnect it last, if access allows.

You may have to reset the one touch windows after reconnecting but don't need to reset the BMS or anything like that.
