Windscreen washer water pump grommet

Featured Replies

Hi there ,I've fit a new water pump in the windscreen washer bottle but I think the rubber water filter/grommet may be gunked up because the water still isn't flowing with any force onto the windscreens, just the occasional small squirt. My question is,is the grommet easy enough to pull out of the water bottle and replace easy enough after cleaning it without actually removing the bottle out of the car,I removed the front grill and headlight to gain access to the pump ,I watched a YouTube video on removing the water bottle which looked a bit hard to access all screws,I think it was the same model car as mine but not certain.thanks    fiesta 1.4 tdci diesel 2003

Hi there , I managed to sort it out ,it was the rubber grommet/filter which was bunged up with gunk ,the grommet is firmly in but comes out with a bit of tugging ,clean it and make sure the filter holes are clear before re installing the grommet ,rinse clean water through the water bottle a few times and put it all back together,(by the way I didn't remove the water bottle) the grommet goes back in easy. I did all this by removing the front grill and headlight which was the best way to attempt this with this model car in my opinion and not by pulling the plastic front wheel mud guard to the side and attempting to do it that way,you can't get the leverage on the pipes plus it's too fiddley and no room ,I'll attach a video I came across for this model. Thanks .P.S. I didn't need a new pump after all that lol ,oh well was only a tenner.  https://youtu.be/JINmJoDFKw4?si=vzzUDwQ2DzeENmYR
