Front Disc and brake pads for 2014 Feista

Featured Replies

I have been look to purchase a replacement front rotors and brake pads. But I am total confused with the amount of brake rotors and pads.  I have looked on eBay but I am sure what parts would be correct for my car.

Any advise would be great help.

Terry.

Try putting your registration into Autodoc, or ECP or GSF - but I find Autodoc have a better choice of manufacturers at better prices.

Then the choice is usually narrowed down to cars with rear discs or drums.  Choose fronts to match that type of rear.  See how you get on.

(edited to add)

On Autodoc, once your registration is input, choose say Brembo as the manufacturer choice.  For my car this brings back 11 results, 10 are in stock.  These are the disc pairings (as above) if you have rear drums or rear discs, and the only confusion is that Brembo sell discs with either 'coated' or uncoated hats (choose 'coated' as the hats look better for longer), and then later down the list also slotted or grooved or dimpled discs - you don't need any of that.

Be careful with Autodoc though as they have a nasty habit of substituting parts without prior approval, and often for one of their own brands claiming equivalency. You can contact them to set the 'no substitutions' flag on your account but you shouldn't really have to do that.

I prefer to use PartsInMotion these days. A great company with great customer service. UK based too.

Rotors????

The postage costs will be phenomenal !

Strange - I've never had anything other than what I ordered - perhaps that flag was set from the start for me.

Or they just had what you ordered in stock.

Not wanting to drag this out, but why would you order stuff that wasn't in stock?  Autodoc seems reliable in showing their stock levels.  Regardless, I currently look after five cars and have been using Autodoc since before the Brexit disaster, and they've never sent me anything other than what I ordered.

I'd love to buy British, but the UK doesn't actually make much quality hardware these days, and when a British reseller (Parts in Motion) sells European Brembo 09.A968.21 discs for 60 GBP each, and Autodoc sell them for 30 GBP each, I choose the latter.

YMMV.

I've been buying brakes since before we joined the EEC

Yay!  Me too.  ECP, GSF, everyone you could imagine.  But since before Brexit, Autodoc have got more choice and better prices, so most of my car-parts-purchasing goes their way.

No, that's cool - happy to discuss it.

I wouldn't, indeed wouldn't even be able to, but the issue is their online stock levels seemingly aren't always accurate.

If that's the case I can understand why you would keep using them given the positive experiences.

For me, and many others, I haven't had such a good experience and the phrase 'once bitten twice shy' applies (actually, it should be 'twice bitten...' as I didn't learn the first time around) hence me saying to exercise caution.

Don't get me started on how they deal with returns (or not) for an incompatible part - if their computer says it should fit then seemingly that's that. Doesn't matter if the cabin filter they've sent is of an entirely different shape and dimension to the original you've got in your other hand.

As you say, they are often cheap, but at what cost I would say.

I go to my Local Mark's at Welshpool. They usually have them in stock or At the very worse  ( not often ) will have them lunchtime next day. Online shops not for car parts, use local shop no return postage or chronic or suicidal dissapointment when you open your parcel. The counter staff know pretty much everything and sometimes smile.

I would advise you to ring round your local motor factors, see what they have in stock, and compare prices.

I usually use Drive Tech discs & pads, from GSF (their own brand).

Experiences vary - no worries.  The only time anything went wrong for me was when I ordered a part that was wrongly assigned on their website - it was clearly for a different model when it arrived, so I did have to contact them (several direct emails) to get them to send me a postage-paid return label, but mistakes can happen.

EDITED to add - today's delivery, just so you can see I actually use them 🙂

There's always carparts4less  they're the online shop for ECP and always a bit cheaper if you don't mind waiting for the post.
