Ford Festia leaking oil when only running.

Featured Replies

Hi guys.

Not having the best of Joy with my little ford Festia. The new problem seems to be it’s leaking oil when only running from the front of the engine and also seems to be mixing oil with the water in the expansion tank. It’s not the headgasket. All the plugs are dry and no white gunk in the cap at the rocket cover.

Oil seems to be running from a plastic housing just above the air conditioning pump. That housing has a pipe going to the oil cooler and and a pipe going to the expansion tank. Connected together.

currently taking off the inlet manifold to get a better look at it.

Anyone’s opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Karl

Sounds like the oil cooler is leaking.  The plastic stat housing above the AC pump is for coolant only, there shouldn't be any oil in it.

I'm not sure how you can be certain it's not the headgasket at this point.  It's all the same system.

Ok. Just because I asked was it was leaking well above the oil cooler and wasn’t too sure. It’s quite a constant flow of oil.

it might be leaking from the head potentially if it’s that high. I didn’t get taking off the inlet today hopefully get it off tomorrow eve.
