Poor acceleration - high revs - Ford Fiesta 1.3 (2002)

Featured Replies

Hi,

For a few months my Ford Fiesta Finesse 1.3 2002 has been having problems accelerating.  Going up hill is ridiculous and fuel consumption is like it's a V8.  Getting up to 30mph with very gentle accelerator pressure is sort of bearable but crap really.

When I try and accelerate up to speed, the revs go up instantly but it's not engaging straight away.

The problem started with erratic idling and cutting out when I slow to a halt.

I tried a few solutions and the idle now appears to be good, I'm just left with terrible acceleration.

I've replaced / tried the following :

  • New air filter
  • Air hose (had a large gap!)
  • Replaced spark plugs
  • replaced ECT senor
  • Cleaned the MAF sensor

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My 1990 Eunos Roadster is more reliable, just not practical day-to-day !

The clutch is worn out !!!!

You need to replace the clutch asap 👍
