Fiesta one push window up/down

Featured Replies

This topic has been covered here thoroughly and I have tried everything.

My driver side window works one push going down but not up. I have tried everything suggested.

The car is near enough brand new (2000 miles) and is now going in for first service.

I have said that I want this looked at.

However.....  I've been "threatened" with a hefty charge if they find nothing wrong. Obviously it's not working as I'm not totally clueless.

So my question is .... can I guarantee it's a fiesta feature if it works going down?

The model is 2023 fiesta titanium x turbo mhev auto

Would appreciate any assistance. Many thanks.

On the Mk 8.5 the only "one touch" is on the drivers door and that's down only. To raise it you have to keep pressing.

Just one of the many things that went AWOL on the later Fiestas, full details (as far as we know so far, we keep discovering things that aren't there) can be found if you have a read through this thread:

Many thanks for the response. Is that really the case, it's down only?

It's unbelievable, firstly why logically provide down only.

But also there are pages and pages of advice on how to resolve it. None of them worked for me. And no-one else has suggested it's not a feature.

I've always had a nagging feeling it might be the case, but of course I'd rather believe I had a fixable fault.

I want to believe you, because I can then "get on with my life", but have you any source of info that can 100% reassure me.

And don't suggest a ford dealer, they are no help.

My 20 year old Focus also only has a one touch, for down only. On closing, I have to hold the button up for about 3 seconds, it's such a hassle 🤣

In the old days they used to put an extra line on the window switch so you could tell whether it was just one.  The Mk8.5 doesn't seem to have that though.

The chart you've provided (thanks) shows it is up and down. So I'm back to square one.

Thanks for the help.  I've gone back through the archives on here and it seems quite clear that the facility was not carried over on the 8.5 upgrade, along with numerous other items.

I had the previous model before this one and it's noticeably lacking in features compared. Something I overlooked when buying it. But too late now.  Cheers

Yes, there are similar threads on other forums, also.

When you looked at the literature on the final cars, it was as much a case of spotting what wasn't mentioned, as much as what was! Even the dealers were caught out - mine discovered (and warned me) that the door mirrors were not powerfold, but what we didn't know was that they weren't heated, either! Only discovered that the following winter.

Other manufacturers have also downgraded specs, citing Covid, chip shortages, Ukraine, you name it, but Ford were among the worst offenders particularly with the Fiesta which they had decided to axe anyway.

Back on the switch, the handbook does mentions that the drivers side is one touch to open only, but you have to read it carefully!

OPENING AND CLOSING THE WINDOWS

WARNING   WARNING:  Do not leave children unattended in your vehicle and do not let them play with the power windows. Failure to follow this instruction could result in personal injury.
WARNING   WARNING:  When closing the power windows, verify they are free of obstruction and make sure that children and pets are not in the proximity of the window openings.

Power Window Switch   Press the window control switch to open the window. Lift the window control switch to close the window.
Note:   The power windows operate with the ignition on, and for several minutes after you switch the ignition off or until you open a front door.
To reduce wind noise or pulsing noise when one window is open, slightly open the opposite window.
Driver Side One-Touch Open
Fully press the window control switch and release it. Press again or lift it to stop the window.

Exactly the same on my 2022 Ranger Stormtrak. No one touch open or close on the three passenger windows, and only one touch open on the drivers.

Hey, that's a coincidence. I was stuck behind one of those crawling along for miles this morning, but when I finally had a clear view I pulled out to overtake and the driver suddenly woke up and floored it! I needed to use "firm" acceleration (ahem!) to "minimize my time in the zone of danger" as my old police Roadcraft manual puts it!

I guess with 500Nm of torque it accelerates quite well in kickdown. Couldn't decide if this guy had been asleep, messing with his phone, or just trying to take the p*ss!

Sorry, I realised after posting that was a 2021 brochure.  Thought I'd deleted it quickly enough but obviously not!  Didn't have time to look for another last night.  I've looked this morning but there doesn't seem to be one available for the very last Fiesta, which barely had any spec left!  As others have confirmed though, this is standard unfortunately.

Ah! I'm glad you posted this. I was thinking "chart, what chart?" !😀

I haven't got a 2021 brochure either, but just looking at the price lists a lot of stuff was deleted between there and the end, even items like Sync 3 and nav which were still largely standard in '21 but optional in '23, and whole models such as ST-2 (ST-1 had already gone), leaving ST-3 only.

This is the 2021 brochure - Fiesta 2021.75MY V1 GBR en R2_EBRO.pdf

Thanks for that, Tom. Still got heated mirrors at that time, I see, with powerfold and puddle lamps on several versions.

Looking back to when I ordered my first Mk 8 ** the whole history of the model  seems to have been of progressive spec reduction.

(** September 2017 - delivery took 6 months!)

I always find it very odd that it is considered normal and legal for a manufacture to sell you a product, take your money and then deliver something less than what you bought and paid for.

On a much more basic level if you bought a box of chocolates on the understanding it contained 24 individual chocolates of a given quality and specification, then would we just accept that when we got home and opened it there were actually only 22 chocolates and that 6 of them were of a much poorer quality ? I suspect that we would complain, and indeed that it is probable that trading standards would up hold our complaint.

Now I know that due to the complexities of manufacturing a car things can sometimes be more complicated, but using the "get out of jail free" clause that they reserve the right to amend the specification of the vehicle that you have already bought and paid for, seems in this day and age to be very much out of step with consumer rights.

Its a very good point. I suppose the difference is that the number of chocolates doesn't differ between the point at which they are offered on the shelf, and the point where you pay for them at the till.

With a car changes can occur between the point of order and the point of payment, and, using Ford's Retail Customer Order Form as an example, the customer would normally be able to say "no thanks", get their deposit back and walk away.

The problem we've seen with the Fiesta in particular is not necessarily that Ford have changed the spec between order and delivery, but that they've reduced the spec removing things which people (particularly previous owners) might reasonably expect the car (particularly a supposedly high end version) to have. For example, my current car is the first I've had in nearly 40 years without heated door mirrors. My 1986 Cavalier SRi had them, as does our 11 year old Seat Mii!

Ford have always covered themselves by saying the latest price list/ordering guide that you go through with the dealer when placing your order, trumps any other documents such as brochures.

Is it reasonable though for retail customers to need to go through absolutely everything with a fine tooth comb when placing an order? Perhaps not!

The problem with Ford is that they don't tell either you or whoever you are buying the car from including main dealers that the specification has changed and it takes months for the brochures to change.

When I bought my car I thought it was a misbuild  because the specification had changed and it took ages to get anything from Ford that confirmed the spec had changed and it was not a misbuild.

Someone else on this forum had ordered one at the same time as I had mine and asked their Dealer about the changes and they knew nothing about them.

The actual Brochure change even the online one took several months to change, so people were still ordering something that Ford were no longer making.

For anyone still on here from my original post thanks for the help, however negative the end result was.  It's the only place I've been able to find the definitive answer.

I bought my mk8.5 second user (1000 miles) and can't blame ford for misrepresentation etc.

However I traded in a mk 7 with a full spec and bought an allegedly identical spec replacement. Both titanium x.

Didn't think to go round the whole car in so much detail. I gained a few extras (heated seats/steering wheel, headlight thingy when turning, mild hybrid, keyless entry) but lost front parking and all the gubbins on the mirrors and of course the window operation.

Now I've seen it all listed here I'm wondering whether things are that bad. Anyway eyes wide open now for next car. Not a fiesta of course.

Thanks again.
