2009 Fiesta Diesel leak...

Featured Replies

Evening all, bit of a ponderer for me, wondering if anybody can help...

Took my car for MOT today, 1.4TDCi 2009 fiesta, they wouldbt test it as it has a Diesel leak, the testing station only does MOTs and so coildnt help with the repair, no matter I have always done my own work. The mechanic did suggest the leak-off pipe, so i started there and steipped down the engine to get access to the injectors, theres clearly been a significant diesel leak in the vicinity, but i am unable to identity accurately the source.

I have ordered a leak-off pipe anyway, but in the meantime I want to fuether investigate, is there a way of running the diesel pump to see if there is an obvious leak? My thought was I'd reconnect all the disconnected fuel lines to the filter and the injector accumulator, run the system and see if i could see it blatantly.

Electrical isnt my forté I'm mechanical by trade but theres usually a work around.

Cheers!!

Can you see any physical leaks atall by smell or wet

These don't use an electric tank pump.

The only way to pressurise the system is to run the engine as the high pressure pump is belt driven.

Thank you.

I'll just have to pray that tomorrow when i take off the leak-off pipe that its obvious thats where the leakage is coming from, i suspect a failed o ring so fingers crossed.
