NGK SPARK PLUGS

Featured Replies

Hello,

Has anyone had any problems swapping out the FoMoCo spark plugs with the NGK equivalent — i.e., rough start-up, etc.?

Thanks,
Ian

iv used them before not had any problems i can remember

Most FoMoCo spark plugs are in fact rebadged NGK spark plugs.

I have been using NGK spark plugs for over 20 Years without any problems. The only point of concern is how the spark plugs are gapped. Some spark plug types are used on different brands/engine types and are not always pre-gapped correctly for a particular type of engine. It is therefore highly recommended to check the spark plug gap against the actual gap value prescribed by Ford and correct the gap if required.

Hello, I have iridium plugs fitted not sure if the original ford ones are iridium but it did say on the NGK box not to gap as they are set to optimum performance so I assumed they were pre set to the right gauge.

I haven't, but I am mindful that they are a commonly counterfeited product so do be careful where you are buying them from as fakes will almost certainly not be the quality you think you're getting. Avoid Amazon Marketplace as their comingled stock system means you don't know who/where yours are coming from unless they are sold directly buy them, and Ebay can be okay as long as you are certain who the seller is and that they are legitimate.

Beware, Ebay are now a scam sellers haven.

I bought them from Euro Car Parts, so can only assume they are the real deal. I will check the gap setting on them.

I do have a TDI Tuning Box on there which I am going to remove as this I assume could cause some rough running issues.
