Spanner symbol with "see manual" warning

Featured Replies

This has been happening on and off for a few years now. Sometimes when I start my car I get the warning, and sometimes I don't, and the warning appears as soon as the engine starts and not after a few minutes driving etc. The annoying thing is, I've checked the manual, and this spanner symbol or error isn't listed anywhere?! Does anyone know what it means? I have a Fiesta Titanium 67 plate.

It's broken.

The spanner faults won't usually be picked up by generic scanners, so you either need a Ford garage or use Forscan yourself.

Thanks, but what do you mean by it's broken?

There's a fault with the car.  We won't know what it is until the fault codes are read.

The technical term is the engine is 'knackered'. The monkey has been running about under the bonnet with a big spanner 🔧 hitting things. Take the car to a Ford dealer ASAP and have them take the spanner off the monkey before it's too late and he does some real damage.

Well as an example this once happened to me and FORscan detected an ABS  problem. Fortunately it was just a sensor that needed changing.

Ignore that just a temporary lapse of reason.  I hope the nurse will be round soon with my medicine
