Air filter issue

Featured Replies

Hi.

I have been having issues with my car starting for a bit now. I have since discovered what i think the reason is !. The air filter is absolutely clogged up and the little filter down on the left inside the airbox, has literally disintegrated 😱. Now, from what i understand, that little sponge is to do with the pcv valve ??. I have tried searching but i can't see how to get the airbox out to clean it. I've ordered a new sponge filter and air filter, but i need your help please.

This is the part that i need help with removing. I can see how i get the rest of the airbox out, but not this bit.

It looks from the design of the connector you need to press this tab and the tab on the other side to release the clips which hold it tight. It looks like a tight space but, if you can use one hand to compress the clips and get a screwdriver in the gap to the left at the end of the outer cylinder of the plastic clip and give it a very gentle twist, it should start to work free. Don't be tempted to put more than a gentle twist on it, you don't want to break it, most of the pain is the pressure you need to put on the tabs at either side.

No, that whole outer shell section needs sliding to the right (so it butts up against that flange on the right-hand side of the connector if you see what I mean) then its grip will release. Pushing the whole connector against the airbox before/whilst doing this might help release some of the tension that could be making it a bit stiff.
