2019 Mk7 tail light intermittent

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

My wife had asked me to have a look at the passenger side tail light as she was informed by another driver it was intermittent.

My first guess was the bulb had gone, but the bulb was absolutely fine. I did notice the contactors were slightly corroded so cleaned them up and the bulb was working fine. Since putting the cluster back on the car it goes back to being intermittent but mostly not working.

Any help as to what could be causing this issue would be much appreciated.

Try a new bulb first

Ah, forgot to say it's also had a new bulb

Probably be a bulb holder issue then

The ground tab in the lamp holder is not protruding far enough out and is not making contact with the side of the bulb.

It just needs eased out a few millimeters with a small screwdriver.
