Misfire? ## VIDEO ATTACHED ##

Featured Replies

Hello,

I think I may be experiencing a misfire. I'm not 100% sure, as I know these engines are naturally unbalanced and tend to produce a lot of vibration, especially during cold start-ups.

Previously, I had an engine management light (EML) come on, which was related to the turbo boost pressure switch. This seems to be an intermittent issue, and I’m currently working on getting it resolved.

The car also has a rear silencer delete, so the exhaust is louder than normal. However, it just doesn’t sound quite right. This unusual sound and vibration usually last for around 30–40 seconds after starting, then it settles down to a more consistent idle.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

Sounds perfectly fine to me

Have the spark plugs ever been changed?

FORScan is your friend, there may be Individual Cylinder Live Misfire PID's that you can monitor, also and if not go into Tests and open the Mode 6 Test function. There will be cumulative Individual Cylinder Misfire Counts in there.

Hello i tested my car in mode 6 which did a misfire count of the 3 cylinders. The counts came back as zero on all cylinders so I assume they passed with zero misfire detected.

The test only lasts for a few seconds is that correct?

Thanks

That is correct it is a cumulative test, does it not say that in one of the tests that it is for the last 10 driving cycles.

Yes it does and they are all zero as well, so i assume everything ok?

It means that none of the Cylinders are either Intermittently not firing or firing but not providing the expected amount of power to the Crankshaft to keep the Engine turning as it should be.

Having zero for them all is very good, if I was to check my own car which is running perfectly right now there would probably be the odd one in several tens of thousands that would show up.

That doesn't mean everything is perfectly ok but if it wasn't there would be other symptoms like poor Fuel Consumption, lack of power, Smoke, Fault Codes etc.

Thanks for your help again.
