Black headliner upgrade

Featured Replies

Would it be possible to upgrade my existing white headliner in my MK8 to a black one? When searching for them on Ebay I see that the front reading lights are different from the fiesta with a white headliner and there’s quite a bit of difference styles out there, they also see so have a different connector.

so has anyone done this before or know if it’s even possible? Maybe with a new cable loom?

It may be possible, but do you really want your interior black, I have been in both versions of ford, the normal white interior makes the car feel more spacious and open inside whereas a black interior makes the car feel small and claustrophobic inside when driving  it. It's interesting how much difference the colour of the interior makes to the perception of space in a car.

I never liked the black headliner in the ST's either.  It was a fairly common mod a few years ago though, on various cars, so other people must like it.

The difference in reading lights might be with or without sunglasses holder?

Some very ambitious prices on EBay!

My current car has no sunglasses holder, my previous one did, but the cut out in the liner looks a similar size, the moulding with the reading lights is just blank where the sunglasses holder was. You'd need to compare cars to be sure.

Another negative from me, I'm afraid. I've had this for 7 years in my ST-Line and ST Fiestas and it does indeed make the cabin "feel" smaller and more claustrophobic compared to the "non-sporty" versions.

Not messed with headliners for years, but not the easiest job to get right, and that was before all the sensors/wiring up there these days.
