2007 Mk6.5 Air inlet pipe(?) broken & engine system fault

Featured Replies

Car keeps going into limp mode and dashboard showing powertrain engine system fault. Just popped the bonnet and noticed a pipe is missing (see pics). It must have fallen off while driving.

Does anyone know what the missing part is called? I’m going to go to a breakers tomorrow to replace it.

Also, could that missing part be causing my engine system fault due to lack of air in engine?

Just found out the parts name, it’s called the inlet air duct to air cleaner.

(Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)

That part is unlikely to make any difference in reality.  The engine will still suck the same amount of air through the open end of the pipe.  It'll just be a bit warmer as it's sucking from behind the radiator.

Thanks for the response. Do you think the powertrain engine system fault is to do with something else then?

Yes, unless something large has been sucked in there and got stuck in the airbox.

Will need the fault codes read to determine exactly what the cause is.  If the engine light itself isn't on then you'll need Ford specific diagnostics such as Forscan.  If the EML is on then there should be at least one generic code which any cheap reader should pick up.
