Humming sound when turning steering wheel

Featured Replies

Hi everyone I own a Ford fiesta st2 mk7 2013. I’ve got this strange humming sound when turning the steering wheel only to the right and not to the left. Can also be heard outside vehicle. There are a few points that I can remember off the top of my head:
1. Steering wheel sometimes turns back to centre other times doesn’t self centre well when turning out of a junction for example feels like the steering wheel doesn’t want to re centre properly.
2. Had a wheel alignment done at one point however this was useless and just came out of alignment quickly.
3. Not sure if torque steer but when accelerating hard and moving the wheel (into another lane) wheel does fight a bit.
4. Occasionally when passenger getting out the car can hear the hum sound but only breifly more like a “hum” rather than a continuous “hummm” shown in video. This also occurs sometimes when going over bumps.
If anyone could help would really appreciate it as had this issue for so long and can’t find the problem.

Is it electric or hydraulic PAS on these?

Full electric on all Mk7's.

Motor then, perhaps??
