Battery issue 1.0 Ecoboost 125hp

Featured Replies

Hello. A call for help from France. 2017 B-Max (I know I'm in the Fiesta Club but it's the same engine and there are a lot more posts in this section) with the 1 litre 125hp i3 engine. Starter motor burned out 3 weeks ago. But the garage has found that a sort of mini fuse box attached to the + connector of the battery has melted which means the starter motor doesn't get any power. Ford France have none in stock and won't have any more produced until they have enough orders. Also they announce 900€ ex VAT for about 30g of plastic and a fuse!

They have told me the part number is 21 68 327, but this is unfindable on Internet. The car hasn't moved for 3 weeks and this is starting to pose logistical problems at home.

Any ideas as to how to source either a Ford part or a knock off, just to get the car moving again. Here are 3 photos to help. It's the complete block to which the different cables attach.

Many thanks in advance for any help, suggestions or addresses to get the part.

Cheers

Steve

If this part is the same as Fiesta there must be plenty in scrapyards by now.

If not in France then try UK scrapyards.  Search eBay for 'Fiesta breaking' and ask for the part, rather than searching for the part individually.

Thanks Tom. I'm not convinced that the part number is correct, but I'll give it a go!

Ford finis 216 8327 is a valid part number. It is a complete wiring harness with module, which is very specific to your exact model.

So unless you find the exact same B-Max in a scrapyard you are stuck.

Expect to pay 1100 for a new module and harness plus fitting.

Scrap yards won't necessarily work in this type of part number.  Just send them a picture.

Park on a hill until then and bump start it👍

Just remember to turn Stop/Start off

It hasn't moved for 3 weeks.  The stop start won't be working anyway.

Seriously though, I did wonder why they don't just tow start it.  Don't need to find a hill for that.

Not an issue to bump start it - it's been at the workshop for 3 weeks. Anyway, some good news. Found the part I need for 60€ on b-parts.com. The mechanic at the workshop confirmed it's the right part. Should arrive in 2 days then we'll be mobile again.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Happy driving!
