2009 fiesta ac blowing hot

Featured Replies

Today I’ve had my 1.6tdci fiesta air con filled. Compressor and fan kicks in, blows cold for a couple seconds then the flap opens and starts blowing hot air. It is the titanium model with climate control. Any ideas what it could be? Cheers Jamie

Probably been left empty too long, all the seals have gone.

That's why I never turn mine off

Only had it 6 months chap! So could be that but haven’t got no leaks or anything. Checked up next to the clutch pedal and someone’s removed the blend flap module. Just got the wire dangling. Would that be the problem or?

No problem at all, just so long as you don't mind hot air 👍

Do you mean the blend flap motor? If so, it's almost certainly your problem.

Can you manually move the blend flap to cold, & jam it there as a temporary fix? Then you have time to acquire the missing part, before the cold weather returns. Time to trawl the local scrap yards, or ebay!

Yes the motor shall I say. I tried jamming it down yesterday and it didn’t change anything. I’ve spoken to a master tech & he’s said that jamming it down won’t do anything because with it being unplugged it can’t detect the temp setting that’s set. I’ll attach an image because If I’m honest I haven’t got a clue what I’m looking for.IMG_8764.thumb.jpeg.011c9d01116eef4e419291232a4e7693.jpeg

That's a pretty definitive statement, what makes you think you have no leaks?

They pressurised the system up for a good 15-20 mins to check for leaks & to see if the system would hold pressure. As they said with it being a 16 year old car, it’s better to be safe than sorry. & to save time and money. Also adding a dye in, so after re gassing they checked the system over which come back clear. (Using uv light) Had the car for about 1.5-2 hours checking it chap
