AUX Input Retrofit to 2017 ST ,

Featured Replies

Hello everyone...am new Fiesta Forum member....first ever post...own a mid 2017 NZ first registered ST Mk 7.5 1.6L 6SMT.

As I understand it, Ford discontinued fitting an AUX 3.5 mm audio jack to the Fiesta around 2013/4. My ST just has a USB port. Vehicle has the Ford Sync 1 (non-upgradeable) software and the stock Sony CD/Radio infotainment unit. Latter has a (redundant) AUX option button. I play alot of CDs and am happy with the Sony console/speakers set-up.

I wish to play Tidal music using a dedicated DAP through the car audio system and AUX is the best connection option, I am reliably (?) informed (by my good friend and yours, Mr Chad GPT) rather than USB or Bluetooth.

Has anyone had experience of retro-fitting an AUX input to a post 2014 Fiesta model that they could share? I have identified the jack input connector unit I need (BE8Z-19A164-A) to have an car audio installer connect to the rear of the Sony headunit where presumably lies an unused AUX multi-pins connector (?)

I wouldn't rely on the analog input staying analogue all the way to the amplifier. It's probably digitised at some point and then you've lost the benefit. The quality of the audio system combined with the high noise in a car, it's probably best just to stick with streaming tidal over bluetooth.

Hello Alex and thanks for your counsel. Since my OP I have circled round and round to the same view as you rightly point out. Nice idea (sort of, in principle) but ultimately not worth the angst time and money. Will stick to BT but lack of better codecs on stock irritates but as you say cabin noise vibrations render striving for more "audiophile" sounding music Sync1/Sony set-up fruitless. Cheers. Hope others may find my ill founded muse and Alex's guidance useful
