2007 zetec fiesta no indicators or hazzards (not the fuse)

Featured Replies

My son followed a step by step guide on replacing a window regulator mechanism on his new to him first car. all seemed to go well but on putting back together the electric mirrors seemed to have a mind of their own. Took apart again and checked all connections and mirrors and windows work!

However on driving of he quickly realised the indicators dont work, Now i have checked all fuses, the indicators all flash on remote locking and unlocking, further investigation shows the hazzards do not work either. If i disconnect the battery and short both leads to discharge any residule voltage upon replacing the battery connections the hazzards start to flash and the only way to stop them is to disconect and reconect the battery lead. The car starts and runs fine but no indicators!!

Im suspectin a GEM fault, I can go into dash diagnostic mode but on trying the Gem diagnostic mode (holding down the rear heated window button, key to position 2, release rear heated window button nothing happens?

So do i buy the lead and download "Forscan" ? i believe i can reset the GEM to "as left the factory" is there any risk in doing this. Is there a simpler solution of just buying a second hane GEM and can i programme the key to the new one??

Any advice greatfully taken, im more of a classic car enthusiast that have next to no electronics in them :)

It would be a good place to start.

This could all just be a very unfortunate coincidence that the problems started after the window regulator was replaced.

The fault could be either with the GEM or you may have damage to the door wiring harness between the 'A' pillar post and the drivers door.

FORScan (for use with Windows Laptop) : https://forscan.org/download.html

It's what many Ford owners use including some Ford technicians.

OR

For diagnostic use only:

With that plug disconnected, did you try and see if the indicators/hazard lights work ?
