mk8 st line suggested mods

Featured Replies

What are some of the best mods to do to a MK8 2021 fiesta st line cosmetic and performance

Bear in mind that any mods should be reported to your insurers and will normally increase your premium.

A Stage 1 remap is probably the best value performance wise. I recall from a previous thread that Superchips were doing a remap for the Puma 1.0 mhev for £225 which gave 147bhp. Their site is a bit confusing in respect of the Fiesta, but if you input your reg no it should come up with the correct option.

Lots of other options - Pumaspeed, Quantum, Celtic Tuning, etc.

Well, that sure beats my suggestion for a modification (though I do believe you don't have to inform your insurance with it 🤣 )

Maybe not insurance but you'll fail MOT if it's hanging from the mirror...

Bailey didn't want to know that 🤣

I am so bad!! When I had a 205GTi, I had it fitted with a full T16 bodykit. I didn't tell insurance. On my RS Turbo, I fitted a SuperChips upgrade, I never told insurance. etc etc...But in those days, Health & Safety never really existed 🤣

I recall back in the 70s, I dutifully informed my insurer of various mods I'd carried out - carburettor, head, exhaust, suspension, wheels, tyres, etc. These were duly noted, and the increase in premium was......£ zilch!

How things change!😀

One of the biggest changes was when I was 17, I couldn't afford my own insurance, so simply was an added driver on my mum's policy at virtually no cost. Not only that, but also managed to build up a no claims bonus as an added driver! Teenagers today are certainly deprived of a decent motoring career...

I don't really see anything around that I'd expect them to aspire to in the way that I once did. I used to dream of Mini Coopers, Lotus Cortinas, Escort Twin Cams, various MGs and Triumph TRs, big Healeys, etc, without even mentioning the more exotic stuff.

One of my friends was telling me his granddaughter was now learning to drive in an automatic because she could see no value in learning on a manual, the way things are heading (and indeed, have gone already.) I can see her point.

But we're wandering way off topic as usual!😀

Hi.

If you need any help with insurance for modifications at all then please feel free to drop me a line.

Regards,

Dan.

The best mod will cause endless badmouthing from people who think that they know better but 16" wheels give a smaller contact patch and thus are less likely to be upset on normal roads than wider wheels of larger diameter. Being significantly lighter, unsprung weight is reduced so the car is more nimble and in the wet, it is more resistant to aquaplaning and stops in a shorter distance. Not on a racetrack, given but here in the real world, that is the unpalatable truth.

Well, over the years I've owned Fiestas with 12", 15", 16", 17" and 18" wheels and........... given the pothole strewn, "surface dressed" shambles that now passes for roads in my area, I'm inclined to agree with you.

I don't think it's what the OP had in mind, though!😀

When I had a Mk6 ST I was frustrated that Ford had ruined it with stupidly heavy wheels and ridiculous rubber band tyres.  Had I kept it for longer, I would have fitted 16s!

My first Mk8 handled very sweetly on sixteens but the car that followed it was quite unpleasant on seventeens so I bought a set of sixteen inch wheels, fitted new sensors and bought a set of decent tyres which, at some cost, turned it back into the car it was meant to be before somebody ticked the "Style Pack" option.
