Autolights icon missing from cluster

Featured Replies

Hi,

Anyone come across this before its a strange one.

I have lost the Auto lights icon (headlight with A in) from my dashboard cluster, my auto lights are working properly, when i drive in a tunnel they come on and when its light they go off (i get the green lights icon displayed)

Armed with forscan i have checked the settings but cant see anything obvious, i looked at a photo i took of the steering wheel a while back and can see it on there so it was working before hand and wasn't imagining it.

I have reloaded saved setting from about 7 months ago when i think it was working and still missing from IPC so wondering if they are set anywhere else?

any help apreciated.

The headlight with an A in it symbol is automatic High Beam, not automatic lights. This can be switched on/off in the vehicle settings under Lighting - Auto high beam.

It is only available if your light switch is in the Auto position.

It also switches off if you operate high beam manually using the stalk, until the next time you move the light switch away from and back to the Auto position.

I think it  also switches off if you have the rear fog lamps on.

Ford kindly produced an online owners manual which details how to turn it on and off in the menu.

With a 2018 you still got the hard copy version also.  But many seem to have disappeared from the documentation on change of ownership. You can get a reprint if required from various sellers eg:

Hi all, it's turned on in the cluster menu and I always have it on on auto setting on the dial as well.  I do have the printed manual with my car and I haven't turned it off. I have been playing around with forscan but put the asbuilt back on to the cluster from about 7 months ago when it was definitely working and it's still missing.

Does it only show at night time or something? Perhaps I haven't noticed as it's so light on a  night now and assumed I'd knocked it off by accident.

Ok I'm a dumbass haha.. I was driving back from the hospital this morning at 1.30am and the symbol came back so it does only appear when it's dark. Damn those long summer UK nights haha.. thanks everyone for taking the time to reply !!

It only appears when the lights are actually on. So you are right to say it only appears when its dark (because the lights only come on when its dark).😀

yeah i should have realised really, I've done so much retrofitting of various things to my car and modifying modules with forscan i just automatically assumed it was my fault and had not taken into account the fact i dont drive in the dark during summer months 🙂
