XVision to OEM reverse sensor retrofit questions

Featured Replies

Theres been a thread on retrofitting sensors to MK8 Fiesta but its old now.

My car has the OEM plug for the PAM module (which i now have) and wiring under rear bumper for OEM sensors, Ford in their wisdom added XVision reverse park sensors instead of adding a PAM and sensor loom for the prev owner of the vehicle.

Question:

Is there a way to wire up the Xvision sensors to the original OEM Park Assist Module?  what i mean is i know how to solder, extend wires but are they compatible with the ford ones?

No, the aftermarket Xvision parking sensors are not compatible with the original PDC system.

I've been looking at the circuit diagram since I got home and if the XVision are 3 pins it could be possible, I'd have to check with a meter see if 2 of the pins from each sensor are linked with one of the pins being the sensor feed wire.

I have ordered a wiring loom and set of sensors but I thought it would save me having to source mounting brackets, covers and removing the bumper again. I've fitted a blind spot monitor so happy to do that again if I really have to.

The aftermarket Xvision sensors have a completely different resistance from the original parking sensors.

They are not going to work with an original PAM module.

Any ideas how to turn on the on screen diagram for reverse parking sensors? I've fitted the module but no sensors yet, haven't arrived. I can see the PAM and it's set to rear PDC and I've also done this on the APIM to but not seeing the car overlay.

Have you fitted Xvision sensors ?

Yeah ford did it. I've now fitted OEM PAM module ready to swap out for ford ones. Guy above said XVision ones weren't compatible so awaiting delivery of ford ones, should be here monday. Was just trying to get the car to display on the screen in readyness using ForScan.

This is what I'm trying to enable on screen, the old post on the forum talks about editing asbuilt but I think that's because there was no plain text config back then.

Managed to work out it out, you also need to enable ' Park Assist Features ' in the BdyCM. The retro fit didn't mention that.

Hopefully now once sensors arrive I can do a quick plug in test.

Then the arduous task of finding how to fit them to the bumper without existing holders / retainers as trying to buy them is a nightmare ford lists many of them.
