DPF check recall

Featured Replies

Due to the huge number of vehicles recalled by Ford, I was notified at the beginning of the year that it was estimated that my 2019 Focus  2.0l Ecoblue would be scheduled to be recalled around July time.  Just wondering if any Focus owner has actually had their vehicle checked yet?

I've not had a recall and local ford dealer claims no recall. Passed mot December but DPF failed July and had it replaced.

Correct.  This car isn't covered by the recall.  (Yet at least...it might be added in future...)

Enquired with my local Ford dealer, and they confirmed my car was due for recall to check Powertrain Control Module software, and also to check if the DPF has suffered any cracks as a result of the faulty software. Car booked in for 1st October.

Copied this from Google:-

Ford issued a major diesel particulate filter (DPF) recall in December 2024 for approximately 768,927 vehicles with Euro 6 diesel engines from model years 2014-2023, affecting models including the Fiesta, Focus, Kuga, and Mondeo. The recall is due to a design flaw causing small cracks in the DPFs, leading to increased particulate emissions and failed emissions tests. Owners should schedule a free repair at an authorized Ford workshop for a software recalibration and, if necessary, a DPF replacement. A new 10-year/160,000 km warranty is provided for replaced filters.

Back in July I had my Focus 2.0 ecoblue auto at the Ford dealership for a serious electrical problem (dangerous to drive)and while there asked them to check the DPF and they confirmed it had cracked.

They told me they could replace it under warranty, only if it failed a MOT test on emisions.

With these problems and long cranking issues, I ended up sending the car to Auction and getting rid.

The recall has just arrived for my 2019 Focus 2.0 EcoBlue. I need to get it booked in next week if possible.

Booked in for Friday 31st October. This was the earliest appointment, just as well it's not urgent 🤣

Better leave them a treat in the car.  Who knows what kind of trick they might play otherwise!

I was told that it has to fail the MOT but as with a past post I am getting smells in the cabin so might be connected
