Fiesta ecoboost 1.0 125 Mot & Oil & Filter change

Featured Replies

Hi

Just had annual Oil change, and filters plus MOT on above car

2019 Fiesta Vignale.

I would appreciate  your feedback please.

£207 total cost for everything

£80 plus VAT was cost of Oil, rest of the £207 is mot, filter and labour.

Is this a fair price for everything done please?

Also the report lists Oil as Bulk Oil OW20  a Google search showed that ford recommend OW20, the garage told me this Oil is as recommended, do you agree?

I've seen worse

Total price is fine for the work done.

£100 for potentially the wrong oil isn't great though.  Genuine Ford Castrol would've cost half that.

Cheers, Dealer now reprimanded and fired.

Horrendous  reviews to follow 🙂

Have you checked your owners handbook for the oil type and quantity ?

Hi according to Manual

SAE 5W-20 Oil and 4.6 litre capacity including filter

Last service he used the above but says ford now recommending 0w20

He says he buys this in big 20 litre barrels and it's castrol

He's making a nice mark-up on that then.

Ford are now recommending 0w20.  But it doesn't cost anywhere near that much for 5 litres.

I've just seen the report again, and the printout went over onto the reverse side of the report, and I see there is a deduction amount of -£26 hidden at the top

So sorry for reporting to you earlier but the price of the oil was £ 80 minus £26

So it was actually  £54 for the oil plus vat and not £80

To me thats still one hefty markup, considering online price is £37 per 5 litre

So he's  probably buying big barrels of chip oil and over charging for it 🙂

I reckon £207 for oil and filter change plus mot is too much

Everything costs too much nowadays.

£200 is about the going rate for MOT & oil change at an indy though.

I buy genuine Ford Fiters from a Ford Dealer. The correct Castrol from GSF or ECP and I do the lot myself in a morning for about £60.

I'm interested in the change of oil specification. Should mildly affect economy but will the engine burn more oil? It doesn't burn any at the moment but this stuff is thinner. Is it better for the wet belt?  And why, having been heavily indoctrinated to use this oil and no other, has it now been changed for something more expensive?

Ford say the new spec is mostly to reduce LSPI and chain wear on the later EcoBoosts.  But it is backwards compatible and Ford aren't going to buy two different oils for their dealerships.

This not the first time they've changed oil specs after the handbooks were printed.  Old handbooks cannot be trusted for the latest oil spec recommendations.

I noticed my fordpass app, which used to have the manual built in, appears to now access an online manual, I guess so they can ensure we are looking at an up to date manual.

Having said that it is still the 5W-20 that they recommend and there's no mention of the 0w20, but if Ford handle their manual updates like they handle their software updates, it doesnt surprise me.

I don't expect them to update the digital manual.  The online ones for other models that I know to have changed oil spec have never been updated.

In my case (and I guess for everyone else) it doesn't even do that very well. Having selected my vehicle in the FordPass app (I have two Ford vehicles) I select Owner Manuals and it takes me to a website where I am asked to enter the VIN. The app knows the VIN, I had to photograph it to set up the app,  but it doesn't manage to take me directly to the correct manual.

Just been handed a directive bulletin  from Ford, to the dealers stating that 0w20 is OK to use now on Ecoboost 1.0 and others.

Nice of them to tell us humble customers!
