Alternator charge wire

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I'm attempting to trace the path of the charge wire that exits the alternator on my Ford Fiesta 2016.

It looks as if it exits the alternator and heads back towards the battery as it should.

I was simply expecting it to be an obvious path directly towards the positive terminal, but I lose it somewhere as it enters an obscured area of the car beneath and beyond the throttle body.

Any hints or suggestions on the path of this wire?

Does it lead directly to the positive terminal battery, or is it more efficient to tie it in to another part of the car that handles 12Volts on this model?

Cheers!

I can't say for sure on a Fiesta, but on most cars they usually go to the main battery cable terminal on the starter solenoid.

Agree with @Alan G H

The main positive power cable from the alternator usually goes to the positive terminal of the starter solenoid and then via the main heavy duty positive cable to the positive terminal of the battery, often via a 'crash' fuse.
