Gear change mechanism plastic or phosphor bronze

Featured Replies

The gear change on my 2017  1.5 tdci seems stiff when hot. I read somewhere that the plastic bush that gives trouble has been replaced with a Phosphor bronze one. Does anyone know which type I may have ? thanks

If I have the plastic version I would drill it out to a clearance  although not sure of size.

I will be taking things to bits tomorrow and I will expect a plastic bush which I will drill out to 12.5mm

and refit with some CV grease.

I had the same issue with my mk7.5. It was more prevalent in the summer when in standing traffic. Poss because the shift arm was a lump of iron which needed some airflow to cool it down a bit.

Swapped it over to a mountune aluminium one and never had another issue with it.
