Oil leak when engine is hot

Featured Replies

Hi

My 2009 1.4 fiesta leaks oil when hot.  I did a 40 mile journey yesterday and the engine seemed quite hot when I stopped.  I noticed a bit of oil, a pool a few inches wide after parking up for an hour.  There is a small amount dripping when parked up overnight.  Seems to be from the passenger side of the engine at the back.  Any ideas what this could be?

Hi,

We'd really need to see the exact drip location unfortunately.

There aren't any any oil components or seals at the back passenger side of the engine.  So it has to be either the sump seal at the bottom, or the headgasket or above at the top.

Also worth double checking that it is engine oil rather than gearbox oil, as a leaking driveshaft seal would be at the back passenger side of the engine.
