Fitting OEM parking sensors - Fiesta Mk7.5 Zetec

Featured Replies

I'm aware that there is quite a long thread about this which resulted in no success, however I'm looking to see if I can get some final clarification on what I need doing based on some information I've discovered.

On the way I have a Zetec S rear bumper + spats and diffuser which is fortunately the same colour as my car (at least I hope) and it has parking sensors to which I am assuming are the OEM ones.

Currently my car does not have parking sensors. I did fit an aftermarket camera where the monitor is built into the rear view mirror but would like the best of both worlds of a camera and sensors.

From the information I have gathered, it seems easier said than done to activate OEM sensors for the Mk7.5 Fiesta, primarily because you need to swap the BCM as the current one will be physically incompatible (missing pins).

Then it's the question of programming the BCM so the rest of the car's computers are all happy with it, and finally turning on the reverse sensor option in Forscan... only for other people to be given an error message despite all wiring being connected.

From my understanding I will need to add the reverse sensor wiring all the way from the bumper to the BCM. I'm thinking of splicing the connectors from somewhere and joining them to an ethernet cable or 2 which should do the job, then having to replace the BCM and reprogram it.

My question is that if I were to buy a BCM that came out a Titanium X which is guaranteed to have parking sensors as it was standard on that trim, would I hit any brick walls in the Forscan programming if I were to edit each setting to suit the equipment  in my car whilst working around the parking sensor configs (so I don't lose any calibration), or would I have to clone my current BCM to the new one to avoid problems? It seems calibration can only be done in IDS which would require the attention from a garage (other than Ford) who have the software.

Just to add, there is a post on the ST forums of someone doing this to their ST, by using a Titanium X module and all seemed to work without the need for calibration, so it is possible and could just be the people on the other thread I mentioned had bought BCMs that did have all the pins, but were never activated for reverse sensors in the first place and thus never had any calibration.

Hope someone can help as I do want to pull this off. Also fitted power fold mirrors and the puddle lamps which I was doubted on as well
