Puma ST Seats (Ford Performance) in a MK8 Fiesta

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if Puma ST Ford Performance seats fit into a MK8 Fiesta, i cant find any decent info on it, I can see the inner rails look like they may fit but the outer rails look odd on the photos on ebay.

Any particular years / MK fit ?

Thanks for reading.

There's only been one Mk of 'new' Puma so far.

The seats are the same as Mk8 Fiesta ST seats, but the runners are different, so they would need to be swapped if using the Puma version.

Mk 8.5 to be precise. The original Mk 8 and the early Puma ST used Recaro branded seats.

Im not sure the runners are the same, my existing seat has a U shaped bar for example for adjusting front to back, where as on the ford performance ones its a single lever, on the left side of the seat there is a pump to adjust the back of the legs up and down as well on my original one there isnt anything.

Unless the usual internet sources are awash with Puma seats, would it not be preferable to source some Fiesta ones rather than have to change the runners.

Another thought - the Ford Performance seats will also have wiring for electric 4 way lumbar adjust, rather than manual.

Fiesta ones are rare as hell though because the air bags always seem to go off.  The electrics and heating are really easy I've worked it all out with my meter  and done a tutorial for it already on another post with seat and HVAC wiring diagrams.

I agree a fiesta one would be loads better, i'm just getting desperate now to find a driver's seat. Today is the first day in about 4 months that ANY ford performance ones have come up for sale and I've been checking every day.

They must get crashed harder!

I've found the FP seats are a mixed blessing in some ways. They are very comfy and give much more lateral support than the ST-L X ones, but I found it very difficult to achieve a driving position which suited me (managed in the end after lots of fiddling!).

It's almost as if the seats are too big for the car, I didn't notice this as much in Pumas I've tried which have a  higher roofline, but they can take a bit of an effort to get into. Can be a bit of a pain if you need to jump in and out of the car a lot, and quite a few owners have reported premature bolster wear.

Other owners have commented similarly on the STOC forums, some even slide the seat fully back every time they get in or out.
