Window Run Channel Part Numbers???

Featured Replies

HI All,

The run channels on my MK7 are a bit green and cracked and need replacing. The windows are struggling to go up and down.

1. Am I calling them the correct name?

2. Does anyone know what the part number is and any outlets where I can order new ones?

3. Are there any guide on how to do a swap?

I've attached a couple of pics to show the parts I'm talking about. (the fuzzy part the glass passes through).

Cheers!

Hi,

I don't think this is a Mk7.  1.1 Ti-VCT was only available in Mk8 as far as I'm aware.  2017/18 is the changeover so we can't tell by year alone.

Ford call these 'Inner Weatherstrip'.  They are different between 3 door and 5 door models as 5dr front doors are shorter than 3dr doors.  They can be bought on ebay or from your local dealer for approx £20-£30 each.

2176907 LH 5Dr

2176908 RH 3Dr

2176909 LH 3Dr

Personally I would try to clean them with a small brush and some soapy water.  Could also try adding a very light coat of silicone spray afterwards.

Hi Tom,

Thanks so much for the info.

I've been struggling to pin down exactly what this part is! Perhaps its because I've been searching for the wrong Mk. Again, thanks for the knowledge on that.

I'll try your soapy water and silicon spray trick first as they all need doing on the car. Its going to be a bit pricey to get new parts for the whole car!

Cheers for the link!

Hey Tom,

Just wanted to say that your silicone spray tip worked great!

It was the actual rubber weather stripping around the window perimeter that was gripping the window and causing it to strain the motor.

Glides like a dream now!

Cheers!
