2000Fiesta zetec s reservoir water boiling.

Featured Replies

Problem started 3 year ago hit pothole temp gauge went up next day ok. Last June 2024 temp gauge started rising and going back to middle but garage said engine not overheating. Car running ok Took it to local garage where temp sensor changed and heater valve. No change so he suggested take it to Ford for diagnostic test. They said it could be water pump so that was changed no difference. Then they changed thermostat even worse. Then had new radiator and then took it back to Ford and they replaced head gasket. Still happening and water still boiling. Anyone got any advice as to what the problem could be ? It was left hand passenger side that hit the pothole,

Car only has 63000 miles and never been hammered

If the new thermostat made it worse, they probably fitted the wrong one.

Has the cap been replaced?  And the reservoir?

Does seem a bit odd really. If it is really getting over hot temperature wise most possible faults have been covered. Ford would have tested pressure before and after expensive head gasket change. If it is just bubbling then a crack somewhere ?

Not really worth much anyway. \bin it.

Hi thanks for getting back to me. The cap was replaced by one I bought on ebay.  Reservoir not been replaced. Also when water is bubbling you can unscrew cap and there is no pressure.

Sounds like either the cap or reservoir are leaking.  Replace both with genuine Ford items and see if that improves it.
