Stiff gears sorted on second go 2017 1.5 tdci mk7 5 door

After 2 attempts. Removed airbox and plastic, clipped on, gear selector cover( car up on ramps) Expected to find a partially seized mechanism, common fault with older cars, but no  everything free. I removed circlip and gave things a good oiling but was not convinced that I was curing the problem. Afew weeks later I decided to have attempt 2. Cover off the  pivot pin was totally free. I lubricated the inner cables this time with Engine oil fully Synthetic, left over, and got herself to work shifter back and forth. She said it seems better after a couple of oilings.

We took the car for a ride and it was noticeable better. Encouraged and now inside the car I took the gear lever boot cover and knob off, oiled the inner cables and anything that moved. A messy but hopeful job. Wrong oil perhaps? But the result from our efforts at front of gearbox and inside is a totally easy gearbox. No stiffness at the lights, when in a que, or behind a tractor here in rural Wales. Simple but effective repair with very few tools and no Debit card needed.
