Fiesta head unit (Car Play) cable vs wireless

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've never used my car play option with my fiesta (2018) and just after some confirmation.

It works with cable and clearly reports that apps will only work this way.....is there any way to use the apps (e.g. maps) wirelessly like I can with my 2025 electric transit or is it a limitation of the headunit?

Thanks

My 2018 also required USB connection for anything other than normal phone use, so I think your system speaks the truth. Presumably your Transit has Sync 4 rather than Sync 3?

I've never even bothered trying with the current one but it seems to be the same from the handbook:

Apple Car Play
  1. Connect your device to a USB port.
  1. Follow the instructions on the touchscreen.

SYNC 3 only supports wired Android Auto / Apple Carplay.

There are however 3rd party dongles that plug into the USB port of the car and allow a wireless Android Auto or Apple Carplay connection.

Some of these dongles even support both Android Auto and Apple Carplay.
