Sounds like a great car, hope you got it for a good price 😄

I think it's going to be impossible for us to guess what's wrong on a modified car. My first thought was it sounds like whoever modified it hasn't finished or didn't know what they were doing.....unfortunately. You haven't said whether you've bought it in that condition or whether things are not working that were when you bought it. Clearly there are issues with the wiring and we don't what's happened before. Have they tried to install a wiring loom from the puma for example to get the engine running and found it's not compatible with the car. Who knows....   I guess an auto electrician will need to inspect it and suggest what's best to do.

This is a classic case of watching too many episodes of 'Car SOS' and 'Wheeler Dealers'

Swapping engines on more modern vehicles is more often than not, about getting the various modules and software to work on a Frankenstein construction.

My thoughts would be issues with the GEM. Is the car using the original, or the one from the Puma? Then what 'AsBuilt' files have been loaded ?

I overdose on shows like these, the very reason I wouldn't touch a modified car unless 'Elvis', or Fuzz had done the work successfully themselves. The one thing I also learned is that when the old car doesn't start, it is ALWAYS the fuel pump that needs replacing 🤣

2001 Fiesta should still be Mk4 facelift.  (Or Mk5 if you believe in those. )

The Puma 1.7 was a common swap for those Fiestas so I wouldn't be too bothered about that.  I doubt the lights issue is caused by the engine swap.  Sounds like the dial just isn't powered for some reason.  First check would be that it's actually plugged in...

Boot popper solenoid has probably failed.  You should be able to climb in through the rear seats and remove the plastic interior panel to reach the boot latch by hand.
